Martine Barclay is the founder of Redefine Your Edge (Interconnected Development), a specialised stress reduction training and coaching practice that supports working professionals to positively manage stress throughout the career lifecycle.

Stress is always a factor when things aren’t going as well as they could. It can affect all areas of your life, not least your career. Stress has the potential to negatively impact your relationships with clients, colleagues and loved ones; everyday food and drink; and, your mental and physical wellbeing. Prolonged stress can lead to maladaptive behaviours which can put your career at risk.

Martine acknowledges that working is an essential part of modern day life for many and walking away is not always an option. Her gentle, direct approach coupled with her curious nature has earned her a reputation of truly getting to know what matters most to her clients. Martine draws from a range of approaches and considers the 'whole picture' rather than a slice of it, as it's all connected. Clients who work with Martine can expect to work collaboratively with her, in a non-judgemental way, to resolve issues.

With deep professional services experience, particularly with lawyers, and over twenty years in talent development, Martine is well placed to support professionals in their career journey. Clients work with Martine on a range of career related issues, including; increasing leadership capacity, managing time and stress, positioning themselves for promotion, and, when they are in career crisis looking for direction.

Martine has worked in a number of leading professional services firms like Goldman Sachs JBWere, King & Wood Mallesons, Norton Rose Fulbright, KPMG and Credit Suisse and developed their practitioners and future leaders. This experience has provided her with insider knowledge of what it feels like to work in a high performing environment.

Today, Martine’s purpose and passion lies in helping professionals effectively manage their stress levels to unlock their potential and build profitable practices, whilst working sustainably, and positively impacting those around them, both inside and outside of work.

Martine is based in Sydney and can provide coaching in person from her office at Level 57, MLC Centre, 19 Martin Place or at your offices. Martine also provides coaching via phone and Skype.

Martine is a regular presenter in the topics of stress and time management at legal industry events which include College of Law (New Partner Program and CPD Program) and Legalwise CPD, and writes articles for the NSW Law Society (Career Hub). Martine presents at conferences on topics related to resilience and authentic leadership. Organisations invite Martine to talk to their staff about concentration and focus, and mindfulness.

Martine holds a Bachelors of Social Science (Industrial Psychology) from the University of Cape Town, Postgraduate Diploma in HR from Thames Valley University, Life and Organisational Coach and an accredited Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher. Martine has a Graduate Diploma of Counselling and is currently completing her Masters of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy. She holds many accreditations for leadership assessment and personal development tools and is an avid supporter of individuals driving their own learning.

Martine is a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and ACFED (Australian Centre for Eating Disorders).

Martine and her husband, a law partner, live in Sydney, Australia with their two children. When she is not working or spending time with family, Martine can be found at the local art deco cinema watching foreign films or enjoying loose leaf teas.

    Feeling stuck in my role and the organisation I had been in for some time was what brought me to seek out Martine and start working with her.
